Lawn Insects and Pests

Lawn-damaging insects can be divided into two groups: insects feeding above ground and those feeding below ground. Those that feed above ground, like Sod Webworms or Chinch bugs, can severely damage your lawn, either by chewing grass plants or by sucking vital plant juices from grass blades.

Below-ground feeders, which include Grubs, devour the roots of grass plants. Although subsurface insects can be difficult to spot, their feeding habits can be quite evident, causing extensive damage to your lawn.

Depending on the type of insect, the available lawn care controls may be curative, preventive or both. Lawn Plus can also take care of insects feeding on your trees, shrubs and landscape. As your lawn care service professional I will make specific recommendations to help control insect problems.

To help prevent infestation, a barrier of soil four to six feet around the structure, as well as two to three feet up the foundation wall, is treated. These areas are where insects are generally most active and where they may find entrance to your home.
