Improve the Security of Your Point of Sale Transactions Using EPoS Software

More and more retail businesses across the UK are turning to EPoS software to help improve their business. There are many reasons why EPOS software should be integrated into a business but one that many overlook is the enhancement of security.

Electronic Fund Transfer
Integrated charging is one of the most important features of any piece of EPOS software. This feature basically involves an integrated electronic fund transfer at the point of sale.More often referred to by its acronym, EFTPoS, the software links to a till and allows customers to make a payment via debit or credit card which is instantly debited from their back account.

Reduce Cash Purchases
Integrated EFTPoS systems can assist in reducing the number purchases made using cash and the risks associated with it.For example, the risk of receiving counterfeit cash at the point of sale is reduced, time spent handling money is reduced during cashing up times, less deposit runs to the bank are needed reduced and the number of collections by security firms can be reduced.

Reducing Cheque Payments
As well as helping to reduce the risks associated with cash sales, EPoS software, with integrated EFToS, also assists in reducing the issues associated with cheque payments. One of the most common risks associated with payment by cheque is when a cheque 'bounces', the term used when there is insufficient funds available in the bank account of the issuer to cover the costs of a purchase.

As well as the obvious issues surrounding a bounced cheque, both customers and businesses are charged by their respective banks when this occurs.

Should this situation occur with EPoS software, with integrated EFTPoS, in place the sale would simply be refused should insufficient funds be present, meaning the customer would be prevented from leaving with items they have not paid for and removing the risks of any further bank charges.
